by the Captain Superintendent of Police is being detained under

the Deportation Ordigance to enquire what charges have been

formulated against him under question 8 of form 2 Ordinance 10 of

1913, so that I may be enable to adduce on his behalf the evidence

mentioned in question 6 of the same form.

In reply to your letter of the 28th May, am directed to

inform you that there is no objection to your bringing forward in

writing any evidence in your client's favour, or in arranging for

the attendance of witnesses on his behalf before the Secretary

for Chinese Affairs.

I enclose a copy of the charge made against Chu Loi, under

which banishment proceedings have been instituted
